The Library of Tibetan Works and Archives, under the guidance of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, has undertaken a program of translation and publication of Buddhist texts as explained according to their oral tradition teachings. It is hoped that in this way many of the valuable teachings of the Buddhist tradition presently found only in the minds of the Tibetan Gurus will be preserved and made available through translation for the benefit of the people of other cultures. It is with this aim in mind that this present volume has been prepared of the condensed Lam-Rim teaching of the Graded Course to Enlightenment compiled by rJe Tzong-kha-pa. This is a revised second edition of this work, originally published in April 1973. It will appear as part of The Pathway to Enlightenment, volume 3 in The Wisdom of Tibet Series, soon to be published by George Allen & Unwin, London. May it be of benefit to all who read it.
